Privacy policy

Last updated October 22, 2026

DevForThought builds free software for nonprofits. This policy covers this website, devforthought.com. Each tool we build will say if it collects anything different.

The short version

What we collect

When you submit the request form: your organization's name, your name if you give it, your email address, your message, and whether you said you're a registered 501(c)(3).

When you email us: your email address and whatever you include in the message.

Automatically: like almost every website, our hosting provider keeps basic technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to run the site and keep it secure. We don't use analytics, ad trackers or cookies.

How we use it

To read and reply to your request, to understand what nonprofits need so we can decide what to build, and to keep the site working and safe. That's all.

Who else handles it

We use a few services to run the site. They process your information only so they can provide that service to us:

We'll share information if the law requires it. Otherwise, we don't share it with anyone.

How long we keep it

We keep requests and emails for as long as we're talking with you or working on something for you, and delete them within two years after that. You can ask us to delete them sooner.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we have about you by emailing chance@devforthought.com. We'll respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is meant for people who work or volunteer at nonprofits. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects information we already have, we'll tell the people affected.
